CHILLICOTHE, MO – Chillicothe council members approved a significant purchase at their meeting yesterday.
At the recommendation of Fire Chief, Darrell Wright, council accepted the lowest bid for a new aerial ladder fire truck for the fire department. The purchase was on the department’s replacement schedule. The low bid accepted for the equipment amounts to $878,024. Finance Chairman Tom Ashbrook, noted that the money is available in capital accounts for the department. Chief Wright also recommended participating in prepayment discounts.
Emergency services were also affected by other action taken by council members, including an agreement with the ambulance district for financing of radio communications systems, and a contract for maintenance and update of 911 mapping.
The council approved a resolution to move forward with a Community Development Block Grant application for demolition of 15 properties in the city.
