A program designed to help producers reach decisions regarding the new farm bill will be held in Chillicothe later this week.  Young and Adult Farmers spokesman Jim Grozinger said the session will be presented by representatives of FAPRI.  “They’ll talk about components of the new Farm Bill, the deadlines for sign-up, and the decision tools which will  help farmers and producers make decisions because this Farm Bill is complex,” said Grozinger, “Landowners and producers are going to have to make decisions which will effect their operations for the duration of this Farm Bill which, based on past history, has been three to six years.”

Patrick Westhoff and Peter Zimmel will be on-hand during the program to help landowners establish a plan.  “The sign-up date is in March and there are some other dates in there which they will cover about updating yields and bases by January and February deadlines,” said Grozinger, “You know, we didn’t get the direct payments this past fall in 2014 and those payments will be made in October of 2015, so everyone really needs to get that information.  Plus, they need to know as much as they can so they can make better decisions for their operations.”

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 15th at 7:30 p.m. at the Litton Ag Center and is open to the public. There is a $25 charge to attend or you may pay the $30 fee to become a member and attend all 2015 programs.  For more information, please call the Litton Ag Center at 660-646-3131 and speak with Grozinger or Brian Thompson.
