The 20th annual fly-in and drive-in gets underway in Chillicothe Saturday. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Pilot Jim Summerville:
Pilot Jim Summerville said the objective is to expose youth to airplanes, but there will be other activities, too. “Since we’re kind of far from a metropolitan area to get much exposure to aviation, this is a grassroots operation that we do out here,” said Summerville. The EAA chapter pilots will take those between the ages of eight and 17, referred to as “Young Eagles” up in the air for free. The breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and a lunch follows. The free rides are expected to last until about 2:00 p.m.
