The Chillicothe Police Department is investigating a report of a possible internet scam.  Click to hear KMZU’s Bob Allen talk with Chillicothe Police Department Captain Tony Kirkendoll:

Tony Kirkendoll

Kirkendoll says it’s difficult to catch perpetrators on these types of crimes as they often reside overseas.  One major problem is that through Western Union, once the money has been released, it can be picked up at any location world-wide.  Kirkendoll says online services like Craigslist are full of potential scams.  According to Kirkendoll, people need to use caution when buying things online.

According to the police report, the victim wired three-thousand dollars to purchase a vehicle, but never received it.

Kirkendoll stresses that if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
