CHILLICOTHE, Mo.– According to reports the Mayor of Chillicothe, Chuck Haney, 81, passed away early this morning.

Haney was elected as the Mayor of Chillicothe in April of 2007 and before that served five years as the city’s Councilman at large. He resided in Chillicothe all but three years of his life and worked as a newspaper publisher, in radio and public relations for a variety of events. Haney was a longtime host of the 5th Quarter show on KMZU radio for nearly a decade and was also Sales Manager.

Haney worked at the Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune for 34 years and served as its editor and publisher from 1980 until 1998. He was an active spokesman for the City of Chillicothe promoting every aspect of the community including youth sports, education and local parishes.

Funeral arrangements are currently incomplete at this time and will be provided as soon as it becomes available. Haney is survived by two children, Kevin and Kathy, and five grandchildren, one step grandchild, and one great grandchild.

The City of Chillicothe was not immediately available for comment.
