The Marshall City Council authorized a donation to the Marshall Community Chorus and the Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra at this week’s meeting. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Mayor Mark Gooden:
“The City supports them for the concerts. And we help them out, give them a place to store their instruments, to practice,” said Gooden, “And as you know, we give them a place to perform.”
The City has worked with these music groups for many years, and Gooden believes they are lucky to have them in Marshall.
“They’ve been here for, I can’t remember the years, but it’s been a long, lots of years. And they are really a blessing to our community. Not very many communities have that, and yes, we support them wholeheartedly.”
The Community Chorus received $4,000 and the Philharmonic Orchestra received $6,000.
