A focus group meeting will be held in Warrensburg Monday afternoon for the discussion of the proposed right-of-way access management policy. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to director of community development Barbara Carroll:
“This conversation will revolve around a document that would provide regulations for all of our streets in town and mostly deals with new structures or redeveloped structures,” said Carroll,” It would have regulations concerning the number of driveways, how those driveways are constructed, where they’re placed on the lot, and how close they can be to each other.”
The session will begin at 3:00 p.m. in council chambers.
The city of Warrensburg staff is holding a focus group on the proposed right-of-way access management policy. The focus group will be held on September 24, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Center at 200 S. Holden Street. The public is invited to attend.
In general, an access management policy means regulating the location, type, and spacing of driveways, street intersections and interchanges, medians and frontage or service roads. The proposed Warrensburg policy was developed to be consistent with the recommendations from the City Wide Traffic Study completed in 2009 and would apply to all City streets. Managing access on City streets can result in better traffic flow and fewer accidents. The proposed policy will be implemented over time as redevelopment of existing sites or development of vacant parcels occurs.
A copy of the draft policy can be found on the City’s website at www.warrensburg-mo.com. Comments can be provided by email through the website, by contacting City staff, or in person at the focus group.
