Missouri State University is one of the first customers to pre-enroll to receive energy from a new City Utilities’ 40-acre solar farm in northeast Greene County.

If the Springfield City Council approves a pay structure proposed by the utility next month, the university would begin paying an additional 4 cents per kilowatt hour for 200 kilowatts of energy in October.

That’s the maximum amount that one customer can purchase from the new solar farm.

The solar farm is the largest in Missouri.
