CLAY COUNTY, Mo. – An Excelsior Springs man has been charged with the November 6th and 7th exchanges of gunfire with law enforcement. Image-Anthony-Ray-Stevenson

Anthony R. Stevenson was charged in Clay County with 14 counts of first degree assault in law enforcement officer, 14 counts of armed criminal action and one count of assault on a police animal. Stevenson is being held with a $750,000 cash only bond for allegedly leading deputies on a pursuit in Clay County then from Clay County into Ray County where he fired at officers to effect his escape. He later exchanged gunfire with officers when he was located hiding in a Culvert in Ray County.
