Saturday morning in Camden County a 42′ Outer Limits Catamaran racing boat caught too much air and crashed, seriously injuring both operators. One of those men has died from his injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Water Division, Joel Begin, 47, of Valley Field, Quebec and his co-driver, Michael Fiore, 44, of Bristol, Road Island were participating in a race at the Lake of the Ozarks when their boat became airborne due to high speeds and wind. The boat overturned two times before re-entering the water bow first and coming to an end over end stop on the water. Begin was taken to Lake Regional Hospital, but Fiore was flown to University Hospital.

Fiore was pronounced dead Tuesday night at Columbia Hospital.

The men were participating in the Ozarks Shootout.
