BOONE COUNTY, Mo. — A Columbia woman has been charged after striking a pedestrian with her vehicle in Boone County Wednesday night.

Boone County deputies say they witnessed 32 year old Elizabeth Copus hit the pedestrian on East Prathersville Road. When deputies activated their emergency lights, Copus allegedly sped away.

The pursuit ended when Copus pulled over on Gregory Drive.

Copus has bonded out on charges of driving while intoxicated causing serious injury, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident. The unnamed 47-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
