Darnell Freelon, 20, Columbia, Mo. is charged with Tampering with Evidence related to a January 1, 2018 homicide and double shooting at an area Waffle House.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – An investigation into a homicide at a local restaurant New Year’s Day, has led to an arrest by the Columbia Police Department.

A report released Saturday, January 6, 2018 indicates Darnell Freelon, 20, of Columbia, was taken into custody for allegedly tampering with physical evidence connected to the double shooting and homicide at the Waffle House January 1.

Columbia police detectives determined Freelon removed a firearm from the scene prior to officers arrival. The firearm had reportedly been brandished during the altercation at the business.

Freelon was arrested Friday evening just before 11 in the 5400 block of Baseline Place. He is currently being held on a $100,000 cash only bond.
