BOONE COUNTY, Mo. – A fugitive, wanted for a shooting in Columbia was arrested Thursday night in Memphis, Tennessee.

In an announcement Friday morning, Columbia Police said Derrick Smith, 30 was arrested around 7:00 p.m. Thursday on Boone County charges of first degree assault and armed criminal action.

Investigators said that Smith shot a man four times Wednesday during a robbery at an apartment building on Leeway Drive.

The victim was hospitalized with life threatening injuries.

Columbia Police do not know when Smith will be ready for extradition back to Missouri.
