BOONE COUNTY, Mo. — A Columbia woman was charged Wednesday after authorities investigated a sex trafficking complaint involving a juvenile with disabilities.
A July 7 tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children brought Columbia Police detectives into the case.
Renee M. Collins, 48, is accused of leaving the teen, who has diminished mental capacity, in hotel rooms with strange men in exchange for cash or drugs.
Authorities took the victim into protective custody and found that she suffers from cerebral palsy, autism, is partially deaf and has a cognitive deficiency. Collins is charged with second degree sexual trafficking of a child and first degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Bond has been set at $200,000 cash only.
