The Chillicothe City Council voted to install a 4-way stop at the intersection of Polk and Broadway. That installation will take place Wednesday at 8 a.m.

The intersection is expected to see an upswing in traffic with the addition of the new Route V Bridge. Safety is cited as the reason because drivers unfamiliar with the intersection may be more likely to cause a crash. City leaders decided a 4-way stop is the best option.

Motorists should be aware of the construction crew that will be at this location when work begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Press Release from the Chillicothe Street Department

To Media and All Concerned,

Last night at the City Council Meeting, an ordinance was passed to make the intersection of Polk St. and Broadway St. and the new Rt. V a 4-way stop intersection. Due to the traffic coming from the east over the new bridge, one way traffic on Polk St. headed east, and traffic traveling north and south on Broadway, this will be a busy intersection at times. With the traffic stopping in all directions, we will be avoiding a crash possibly fatal to unfamiliar visitors. This action will happen on Wednesday morning at approximately 8:00 am. Please be careful traveling through this intersection during the transition period while the public learns a new driving action.

Thanks,

Barry Arthur

Street Superintendent
