Richmond residents near Wilson Street will soon have relief from water run off in the area. Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Wade talk with City Administrator Ron Brohammer:
According to Brohammer, the first step in the process is to clean out the ditch between McKinnley and Garner Streets. “We’re going to put large drainage tubes through the backyards. It will give residents back their property, but more importantly, it will allow us control the storm water better than we have been for many years.”
The project is estimated to cost between $40,000 and $50,000. “We’re going to do the work ourselves. The bulk of the cost will be for pipes and materials. I think it is going to be a pretty good project. It’s probably about 600 to 700 feet through their backyards. Wilson Boulevard, in particular, has flooded off and on throughout the years whenever we have a big storm. I hope this will take care of a large part of that problem,” Brohammer said.
Work is expected to start begin later this month.
