RAY COUNTY, Mo. — Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Alexandra Johnston asked for a continuation ahead of Thursday’s preliminary hearing in a child abuse case.
Johnson filed an amended affidavit of complaint against 32-year-old Gary Matthew Wyant, of Lawson.
Wyant is charged with 11 counts of felony child abuse and one count each of tampering with a victim and with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.
Wyant is accused of binding his children’s’ hands with zip-ties, taping them in cardboard boxes, grabbing their throats and striking them with a paddle or belt.
The preliminary hearing is rescheduled for 10:30 a.m. on March 22.
