The Saline County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an attempted theft of a transformer off a light pole. According to reports a representative from the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative was looking into a power outage Friday evening when he discovered a cut down power pole at A.P.A.C. Quarry in Marshall. A deputy was called to the scene and found a lock to the gate at the entrance to the quarry was cut and the transformer on the power pole was still smoking. The officer believes the pole was cut down with a chainsaw in an attempt to steal the copper inside the transformer.
