The Sedalia City Council approved a contract for a new street scape Monday night. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Mayor Elaine Horn:
Crews will redo the street and sidewalks along Ohio Street from Broadway to 7th Street. “We’re putting up a new gateway arch to designate that that’s our historical downtown, and a gateway off of Highway 50,” said Horn. The contract is with Engineering Surveys and Services, LLC. An amount not to exceed $59,105 has been designated for design services, and an amount not to exceed $17,610 is alloted for construction inspection.
A large amount of roadwork was also approved. Most of it is standard upkeep to Sedalia’s streets. Part of Third Street may have brick in good condition under the asphalt. Crews will remove the asphalt, and if that proves to be true, the brick will be left on the surface.
