After finalizing their budget in late January, the Carroll County Commission is now focusing their attention on projects slated for the remainder of the year. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to Presiding Commissioner Nelson Heil:
As they prepare for the arrival of spring weather and construction season, the commission has several things in the works including various bridges. “We have one under construction on Moss Creek and another for which we are preparing to hold a pre-construction conference with the low bidder, ” said Heil,” At that time, we will give them the okay to begin work. There is another job that should be coming up for bid any time now. In addition, we are in the process of selecting an engineer for five other projects.”
The Commission spent time on Monday issuing letters to their townships advising of the amount of funds available for rock this year. According to Heil, there are some minor differences in the numbers. “It is the same amount per mile,” said Heil,” There are some adjustments to the mileage on several townships, but not all of them. This is the result of an audit by the Missouri Department of Transportation that found not all of the mileage was correct. We went from about 955 miles down to 935 miles.”
The counties will have to follow advertising and bidding procedures prior to the official disbursement of those funds.
