PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. — A former inmate waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday, for kidnapping and other felony charges in Pettis County.

Authorities say Corey T. Owens, 28, had just been paroled from prison when he attempted to abduct a young girl in Sedalia.

Court documents say the girl was visiting at the home where Owens was staying in December.

Police say Owens resisted when he was arrested on December 15th and was in felony possession of methamphetamine.

Owens will be arraigned in circuit court for felony kidnapping, assault, resisting arrest and drug charges on January 22.
