CHILLICOTHE, MO – A bridge in Chillicothe was shut down due to a vehicle accident on Ryan Lane.
Chillicothe Fire Department provided response around 4 p.m. Friday. According to a report, a truck that landed near railroad tracks had apparently been driven off the bridge, and came to rest on its side. Another vehicle was stopped on the roadway. Police say the two vehicles collided on the bridge. The railroad was advised to shut down at the bridge while extraction efforts were underway.
The Fire Department provided extraction of the driver from the truck. The injured driver, who was unnamed in the report, was taken for medical treatment of serious injuries by helicopter.
Officers say, the bridge, which sustained heavy damage is currently unusable, and will be closed until further notice.
