Update (4:30) – A crash that shut down both lanes of Highway 36 this afternoon sent one person to the hospital. According to the Highway Patrol, 55-year-old Jerry Watson, of Braymer, was westbound near Breckenridge when he changed lanes into the path of 61-year-old Larry Hatfield, also of Braymer. Hatfield’s tractor-trailer then struck the back of the boat and trailer being pulled by Watson. Both vehicles then went off the side of the road, where the tractor-trailer caught fire. That driver was not harmed. Watston crossed into the median. He received moderate injuries and was transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

Multiple KMZU listeners have reported a traffic accident on Highway 36, near the Caldwell and Livingston County line.  According to the callers, the westbound lane of traffic is stopped.  Emergency crews are responding, and a tractor-trailer is reported to be in flames.

Listeners are encouraged to avoid the area, near the intersection of Highway M and 36, about ten miles west of Chillicothe.
