WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, June 12, United States Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced the re-enrollment deadline for the dairy Margin Protection Program is extended to June 22.

The MPP for dairy application deadline was originally June 1, but it has now been extended to June 22.

“This deadline was extended to make sure that all dairy producers had the opportunity to enroll in this program,” explained Farm Service Agency Executive Director of Carroll County, Rebecca Walker.

Even though this is the second deadline extension that the application due date has been given, Walker explained June 22 is the last possible day dairy farmers can turn in forms. The May 2018 margin under MPP will be published on June 28.

“This is important for dairy producers because this is the only program we offer that can help protect dairy producers against low prices or high feed costs,” Walker said.

For more information or an application, Walker encourages producers to contact their local USDA Farm Service Agency county office.
