SALINE COUNTY, Mo. – A jury trial is no longer necessary, after a Raytown resident pleaded guilty Tuesday, in Saline County.

Court documents indicate that Erik G. Swanson, 24, has now been sentenced on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Swanson reportedly smuggled drugs into the Saline County Jail after being furloughed for medical reasons in March of this year.

Swanson was sentenced to eight years in the Department of Corrections for the felony charge and six concurrent months in the county jail for the paraphernalia charge.
