A Summer Block Party will be held in the Lexington Downtown from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It will feature sidewalk sales, a farmers’ market, and a meet-the-candidates forum at 11:00 a.m. on the courthouse steps. The Anderson House at the Lexington State Historic Site will have “Patriotic Day” from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Activities there will include an 1860s-style picnic, period games, and a basket auction. Starting at 3:00 p.m. at the Goose Pond Field, the local police a a team of sluggers will compete in a game of “town ball,” which is similar to modern baseball. Difference include the possibility of ax handles being used as bats and rules about who is allowed to carry a firearm (only the umpire).
