JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Lee’s Summit driver has been charged in a hit and run crash that allegedly caused the death of an unborn child.
On Tuesday, Jonathan M. Marquardt, 26, was charged in Jackson County with driving while intoxicated which resulted in death, driving while intoxicated which resulted in injury and leaving the scene of a crash. Around 3:00 Saturday, Raytown Police were called when a stalled vehicle was struck by a pickup at Highway 350 and Raytown Road. Police stopped Marquardt at 67th and Raytown Road a few minutes later.
A pregnant woman in the stalled vehicle was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital where the baby died after surgery.
