MORGAN COUNTY, Mo— An early morning crash on the Lamine River Bridge in Morgan County ended in tragedy this morning.
A statement released by Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia indicated a senior student was fatally injured during the incident and extended sincere condolences to the teen’s family and friends.
Crash reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicate Alexander Carr, 18, was eastbound on US-50 as a Green Ridge resident, 40-year-old Joseph Wells, was westbound. As the vehicles travelled across the bridge, Carr’s 2002 Dodge Dakota crossed the center of the roadway and struck Wells’ 2014 Mack Conventional Truck, head-on.
Carr was pronounced dead on scene.
Wells was seriously injured during the crash and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
