MISSOURI Every year the Northeast Coalition for Roadway Safety awards counties for there efforts to curb roadway fatalities.
Marisa Christy-Kerns is the education chair for the coalition and said this is an outstanding accomplishment considering Missouri had nearly 900 highway fatalities last year.
There are actually three counties who had zero fatalities in 2019, but Schuyler is the only one to do it three years in a row.
Kern said they want to see zero fatalities and this kind of effort takes everyone’s cooperation. She said their Buckle Up, Phone Down campaign could play a big part in saving lives.
Schuyler will be recognized Monday, February 24 at 11 a.m. at the Schuyler County Courthouse by several organizations and agencies.
