Emma Jo Knight, age 97, of Keytesville passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Brunswick Nursing Home.

She was born July 8, 1922, at the family home in rural Laclede County, Missouri, the daughter of Marvin Bishop and Mary (Ward) Goss. Emma Jo graduated from Stoutland High School in 1939 and in 1944 from Southwest Missouri State Teachers College in Springfield, Mo.

On May 25, 1945, Emma Jo Goss and William F. Knight were joined in marriage at the Goss family home. William F. Knight preceded his wife in death September 1, 1992.

A longtime resident of Keytesville, she was a home economics teacher and later substitute teacher for Keytesville Public Schools. Emma Jo was a faithful member of the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a 4-H volunteer and active in many civic organizations.

She is survived by her son and his family Bill and Betty Knight, Michelle, Greg and Lauren Earnest all of Platte City, Mo; Carrie, Drew, Meredith and Audrey Cornstubble, of Holt, Mo; and her daughter and her family Mary Jo Williams, St. Peters, Mo, Scott, Lindsay, Courtney and Andrew Williams, St. Charles, Mo and Jennifer, Austin and Linnea Sorenson, Golden, Colorado.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Goss, sister Kathryn Goss and dear friend Martha Bennett.

Visitation is Monday, February 17, 2020 from 1-2:00 p.m., with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. at Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, with burial in Keytesville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Keytesville Cemetery.
