Press Release from Grow Mid-Missouri

The core team of Grow Mid-Missouri recently announced that the organization will host its next entrepreneurial development event at the Isle of Capri Boonville on Tuesday July 9th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

Grow Mid-Missouri is an entrepreneurial development program established in partnership by Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation, Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce and Moberly Area Community College. The GMM partnership is working with the Boonville Chamber of Commerce as well as other Chamber organizations throughout the region to aid entrepreneurs in starting or expanding their businesses.

The GMM program is designed to create an ecosystem that connects entrepreneurs with the people and resources in Mid-Missouri who can assist them when starting or growing a business. The program, designed with input from over 100 serial entrepreneurs, includes a 9-stage proven method of systematic and actionable steps to take the entrepreneur from the idea stage to market. The learner controlled program includes both face-to-face coaching/mentoring as well as online resources available 24-hours a day so entrepreneurs can work at their own pace when it is convenient for their schedules.

The Grow Mid-Missouri Program also includes a large investor network to assist entrepreneurs in overcoming the challenge of accessing capital. Historically this financing obstacle has proven to be insurmountable for most entrepreneurs leaving numerous projects stalled at this stage. The Grow Mid-Missouri investor network includes area banks, non-traditional lending institutions, venture capital firms and angel investors ready to assist with gap financing to move these projects forward resulting in new job growth and new investment in our region which ultimately leads to additional revenue for our taxing jurisdictions. The GMM program also benefits potential investors by offering screened investment opportunities with real projects that have been vetted through the 9-stage pathway creating a viable business plan and financial projections.

The Grow Mid-Missouri core team hosts multiple events that are open to the public in support of entrepreneurial development. On July 9th the organization will host a PitchON event in Boonville. The PitchON event allows entrepreneurs that have completed the pathways and have been approved by their coaches the opportunity to meet with prospective investors. The investors will then choose the top 3-5 projects based on their understanding of the business plans. These top 3-5 entrepreneurs will then give a power point presentation during the public session at 7:00 p.m. which will be similar in format to the television show “Shark Tank”. The session will expose the entrepreneurs and their business plans to the public and invite comment from the investor network.

“We wanted to participate in this partnership,” said Kim Krajicek-Alberts of the Boonville Chamber of Commerce. She added, “This is a way to bring additional resources to the people of Boonville and the surrounding areas that may have interest in starting or growing their business.”
