WALK WITH US…CELEBRATE FREEDOM… AND REMEMBER
FREEDOM WALK – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH-12:00 NOON
The American Legion Post 60 and the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce are proud to sponsor the fourteenth annual Freedom Walk in Lexington. Those walking will include firemen, policemen, clergy, medical personnel, city, and county officials, and citizens of our community, on September 11, at 12:00 noon.
A Freedom Walk has become a national tradition that calls on people to reflect on lives lost, remember those who responded, honor our veterans, past and present, and renew our commitment to freedom, and the values of our country.
We request your support and active participation in order to make this fourteenth annual Freedom Walk a success. It is hoped that you will plan to participate in the walk from 13th and Main Street, beginning at Bank Midwest, at 11:55 a.m. and ending at the Veterans Memorial. Non-walking citizens are to gather at the Memorial by 12:00 noon. A brief ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial. This ceremony will consist of a few commemorative remarks, patriotic songs, the laying of a wreath on the Veterans Memorial, and the sounding of TAPS, will conclude the program.
There will be a static display of first responder equipment on site.
Across our nation, “Freedom Walks” will be held. Many of those walks will be sponsored by local American Legion Posts.
Your participation is needed. Please make plans to join your neighbors, friends, and associates, in the patriotic tribute.
