The Excelsior Springs School District has been awarded a grant which will cater to 40 students who will be eligible for Kindergarten next year. Click to hear KMZU’s Brian Lock talk with Director of Student Services Erin Oligschlaeger:
“We applied through DESE. It’s the Missouri Preschool Project Grant,” said Oligschlaeger. “We will be starting an additional program which will be different from the programs we currently offer. Through the Missouri Preschool Project we can have up to 20 students in a classroom. It will have a teacher and a paraprofessional.”
The cost for students to attend the program will be $250 per month, but there will be a sliding scale which would lower fees for students who are eligible for free and reduced lunches.
“We are looking for students who do not qualify for our other programs and have not had any preschool who will be Kindergarten eligable next year.”
