An Excelsior Springs resident pleaded guilty to his role in a November 2010 bank robbery.  Joseph Laird, 32, admitted he stole $1,577 from Community Bank of Missouri in the 1400 block of Hospital Drive in Excelsior Springs.  Laird entered the bank around 10:00 a.m. and passed the teller a note which said, “This is a robbery put the money in the bag no one gets hurt” (sic), according to statements.  Under federal statutes, Laird is subject to a sentence of up to 20 years in prison without parole, plus a fine up to $250,000.  A sentence hearing is pending.
