Clcik play below to listen to KMZU’s Ashley Johnson speak with Dorothy Tate, the Public Relations Manager with the Iowa Soybean Association:
The Iowa Food and Family Project group is hosting a new opportunity for land owners.
The name of this project is #FarmersCoverIowa and all farmers who are taking steps towards improving soil and water quality are encouraged to join in. Some examples include landowners who are implementing the exercise of reduced tillage, water retention ponds, grassed waterways, cover crops or proper application of livestock nutrients and that is just a few of the techniques.
While this is an Iowa based program farmers from all over help to protect, maintain, and enhance conservation practices, land quality, and water quality. Anyone wishing to participate and show off their environmentally beneficial operation is asked to take a picture of the practice or landscape and post it to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with #FarmersCoverIowa. It is also requested that all participants identify the practice they have pictured and the county and state where it is located.
The photo project is scheduled to run through Earth Day April 22nd.
