Farmland and Hyvee teamed up to donate more than 40,000 pounds of food in Kansas City on Tuesday, March 24th. The food will go to Harvesters who will distribute the 160,000 servings. The donation marks the culmination of Farmland’s “Bacon for Santa Campaign” a commitment to donate more than 500,000 meals to Feeding America, the nations largest domestic hunger relief charity. The fight against food insecurity in the area will serve over 26 counties in Missouri.
Food banks nationwide and statewide are reporting a significant number of people coming to them for help. People from different walks of life are turning to food-banks for assistance. This includes first time visitors, unemployed and employed individuals, seniors, and families with children.
