LINCOLN, Neb. (press release) –Cattle on feed statistics are in from the United States Department of Agriculture.

According to a news release from the USDA, feedlots in Nebraska contained 2.37 million cattle on feed on January 1, 2017, per their National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The inventory was reportedly down by two percent from last year. Kansas feedlots contained 2.17 million cattle on feed, which was up four percent from last year. South Dakota feedlots contained 230,000 cattle on feed. This was down ten percent from last year.
