UPDATE (04/05/16, 8:48 p.m.): As of 7:30 p.m., the fire is still smoldering on the square and fire crews are continuing to work on extinguishing the blaze. The area is blocked off to traffic and citizens and motorists are being asked to find an alternative route. UPDATE (04/05/16, 4:38 p.m.): KMZU reached out to local law enforcement and fire department for updates, but they were unable to give updates on the fire. KMZU will continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates as they are made available.

UPDATE (04/05/16, 3:20 p.m.): A member of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the fire is on the east side of the square. Fire crews are still working to extinguish the fire. KMZU will continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates as they are made available.

PRINCETON, Mo. – A KMZU Listener has reported a fire on the Princeton, Mo. Square Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

The fire reportedly started near 1 p.m. and has been confirmed by a member of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

What business and which side of the square are unknown at this time, but the sheriff’s office is asking citizens and motorists to avoid the square in Princeton for the time being.
