RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. — A fire fighter was responding to the report of a blaze in Randolph County just before 1:00 p.m. Saturday when he crashed the fire truck he was driving.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that Kenneth A. McCune, 58, of Moberly, was driving eastbound on Business Highway 63 at the Renick City Limits responding to the report of a fire in progress. The crash happened when the fire engine traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert. The vehicle then overturned, hit a sign and ejected Mr. McCune.
McCune was seriously injured in the crash. He was taken by ambulance from the scene to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
