JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. — A fire truck crash near Kingsville in Johnson County injured three people, one seriously, Wednesday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Route W, one-half mile north of Olive Street in Kingsville around 2:21 a.m. Wednesday.
An E-One Typhoon fire truck operated by Norman M. Maloney, 65, of Kingsville, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
The emergency vehicle then crossed a private drive and collided with a mailbox, causing it to roll over.
Two occupants of the fire truck, 21-year-old Mercedes R. Handley, of Kingsville, and 27-year-old Timothy D. McConnell, of Pleasant Hill, reported minor injuries. They were transported by ambulance to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.
Maloney was critically injured, despite wearing a seat belt, according to the report. He was flown by air ambulance to Research Medical Center to receive care.
