The Katy Depot in Sedalia will host it’s First Friday Happy Hour this evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. Click here to listen to KMZU’s Ashley Johnson, speak with Executive Director, Debbie Biermann.
While the event is free, time and effort has still been put into this to make sure the actor is good and knowledgeable about the person they are acting out. “The scope of the program is identifying and bringing in professional story tellers,” Said Biermann ” Most of whom are character actors of people of American history. This Friday night will be Patrick Lee portraying Danial Boone. Patrick has been here before to portray other people from history and he is very popular.”
Depot members advise that you make reservations before going to the show. “Those folks that call with reservations are reserved a seat,” Biermann said “For those that have not got a reservation, if there is available seating they are welcome to that and there is some limited standing room. We can seat up to 125 guests, so we’ll try to accommodate everybody as much as possible.”
Light refreshments and drinks will be served free starting at 5:30 and the show begins at 6:00. All of that plus a great act that is teaching you something, is almost a must for any family. “Most of the speakers that we bring in are connected with the Missouri Humanities Council,” Said Biermann “These are characters that they have researched for a great number of years and have become very well adapt at portraying those people. It’s just a really fun way to learn.”
