LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. – A rescue unit of the Chillicothe Fire Department had to extricate an occupant, then coordinate a Life Flight Eaglehelicopter landing after a five vehicle accident in Livingston County Thursday afternoon.

According to fire department and highway patrol reports, the accident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. yesterday, when a northbound vehicle driven by Rex Chaney, 47, of Brimson ran into the rear of a vehicle driven by Rocio Trujillo of Trenton, who has slowed for a vehicle turning. Trujillo was knocked into the path of southbound Ruth Carter, 43, of Trenton and another southbound vehicle driven by Colin Willits, 39, of Princeton. After Chaney hit the Trujillo vehicle, his pickup left the roadway then returned and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Robert Mayfield, 44, of Browning.

After Trujillo was extracted from her vehicle, she was flown to Truman Medical Center in serious condition. Trujillo’s passenger, Manuel Sanchez, 20, of Trenton and driver Ruth Carter were transported to Hedrick Medical Center with moderate injuries. A third passenger in the Trujillo vehicle was transported to Hedrick Medical with minor injuries.
