JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has ordered all United States and State of Missouri flags to be lowered to half-staff Friday, September 4, in honor of a fallen Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper.
Trooper James M. Bava, 25, died in Audrain County August 28. He began his career with the Highway Patrol in 2013. Trooper Bava was killed in a car accident in the line of duty.
Under Governor Nixon’s order, all state government buildings will lower the flags Friday from sunrise until sunset, the same day funeral services for Trooper Bava will be held. The flags at all Highway Patrol facilities were ordered to fly at half-staff Friday, August 28, and will remain lowered through September 4.
