No issues were raised during a public hearing regarding flood plain maps in Marshall Monday night. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with City Administrator Connie Latimer:
Council did amend the portions of the ordinance reading “500 year flood” to read “100 year flood.” “If we get any flack from SEMA or FEMA, then we’ll change it back,” said Latimer, “Mr. Stouffer… he said that would be the third floor of the courthouse if you had a 500 year flood. So that would just limit the building ability in various places.”
Council also heard an report on sales tax revenue for the city. Latimer said it’s up $53,000 for the city portion, and $28,000 for the park portion. Sales taxes fund the city’s budget.
