CARROLLTON, MO – A resident of New Bloomfield is formally charged after allegedly stealing a motor vehicle from a retailer parking lot in Carrollton September 12.

Carrollton police say Jason D. Hopkins, 45, was seen on video surveillance at the establishment. A police investigation and anonymous tips drew links between conspirators and the checks and cash stolen with the vehicle. Hopkins is charged with stealing a motor vehicle, according to a warrant listed Wednesday in records.

Hopkins is a prior offender with two convictions of stealing or tampering with a motor vehicle.

Documentation does not indicate whether Hopkins has been taken into custody.
