A former Carrollton police officer charged with felony assault related to a September shooting is scheduled for a hearing Tuesday morning. According to the probable cause statement, Lynn Ward was attempting to apprehend a suspect involved in an earlier dispute when the individual ran from the scene. Ward allegedly chased after the suspect, drew his weapon, and shot at the individual. The 50-year-old Lexington resident was relieved of his duties at the Carrollton Police Department shortly afterwards. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing in December. Ward is scheduled for 9 a.m. tomorrow (Tue.) in Carroll Co. Circuit Court.
