JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed William J. (Bill) Dorsey, of Brookfield, as the new First District Commissioner for Linn County. The First District Commissioner position became vacant with the resignation of Commissioner Randy Wade.
Dorsey, a Democrat, served on the Brookfield City Council from 1994 to 2006, and was the council-elected mayor of the city from 1996 to 2002. Since 1988, he has owned H. Tooey Mercantile, the oldest retail business in Brookfield. Dorsey also has served as a board member of the Brookfield Industrial Development Authority and of Pershing Memorial Hospital.
“I am pleased to appoint someone with Bill Dorsey’s record of civic service to the County Commission,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am confident he will ably serve the people of Linn County in this position.”
