A Fort Osage middle school teacher was named the 2011 Missouri Staff Development Council’s (MSDC) Outstanding Teacher.

Mike Touney, English teacher at Osage Trail Middle School, was named the 2011 Missouri Staff Development Council’s (MSDC) Outstanding Teacher.

This award is for an individual who exemplifies High Quality Teaching, engages in high quality professional development, and who has made significant contributions to his/her school and district throughout his or her professional career.

Touney works tirelessly to improve teaching and learning in our district, and he is a dedicated teacher leader at the building and district level. Why is Mike involved with teacher professional learning?  Mike’s motivation is to improve the learning experiences in his classroom, and his students reap the benefits of his perseverance.  His colleagues benefit from his continuous willingness to refine and deepen his craft of teaching.

MSDC will recognize Touney at the annual MSDC conference in Branson, Missouri March 13-15, 2011.
