SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Justice Department announced Wednesday, August 26, 2015, that four more co-defendants have pleaded guilty in federal court to aiding and abetting a fraudulent tax return preparation scheme.
According to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Jeannie Rhodes, 34, of Springfield pleaded guilty Wednesday to making a false claim.
On Monday of this week, co-defendants Shawna Hughey, 37, of Joplin, formerly Springfield, Johnny Cooper, 28, of Springfield and William Coonce, 29, of Otterville entered guilty pleas. Hughey and Coonce each pleaded guilty to two counts of making false claims. Cooper pleaded guilty to one count of filing a false claim.
Another defendant, Cherie Dupuis, 43, of Springfield pleaded guilty on July 21, 2015 to leading the fraudulent tax return conspiracy. Sentencing hearing will be scheduled after presentence investigations by the United States Probation Office are completed.
