State Historical Society of Missouri, in partnership with the Carrollton Public Library, Carroll County Historical Society & Museum, Arts Council of Carroll County, and Beta Sigma Phi, Laureate Nu chapter, will honor Carrollton, Missouri, printmaker Fred Geary with a celebration on the 117th anniversary of his birth. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Dr. Joan Stack, the Society’s curator of art collections, presenting “Fred Geary: Missouri Master of the Woodcut.” Next, Greig Thompson, SHSMO exhibits preparator, will discuss the proper care, display, and storage of fine art prints with the program “Caring for your Geary—and other artworks.” Beginning at 11:00 a.m., an “Antiques Road Show”-inspired interactive event will allow identification and analysis of Geary artworks brought to the event by attendees.
